I didn’t had much time to read or write this week, and my reader sits with more than 1000 unread items, but I did try to follow and catch up where I could. One of the interesting reads this week was an entry to the Yakezie Writing Contest called “Bullet Hole“. This is a story about discrimination and staying true to one’s core values in the face of ridicule. While we should remain open to criticism and be ready to change our ideas if there is a sound argument for doing so, at the same time there’s no need to change simply because one’s ideas are different. I enjoyed this article and encourage you to head over to the contest, read, and vote!
This week I republished an oldie, Don’t Get Fooled: High Pressure Marketing Tactics. This post comes from the early days of Invest It Wisely. There’s at least a few months of posts that haven’t gotten too much exposure, so I’ll bring some of these forward every now and then to bring them into the light. 🙂
Although I haven’t replied to all the comments lately, I do enjoy reading them and thank you for stopping by and leaving your comments and feedback, it’s always appreciated. 🙂
On to the weekend reading!

Thanks for the mention! I read the bullet hole essay and while I am against discrimination in all of its forms I sometime wonder why do some people not realize that they are inviting attention by being so “special” with their symbols…

Hey Mich,
I guess the question is if they are following their true beliefs or if they are doing it only because they feel pressured to do so! Discrimination is fine if it is based on objective reasoning (you probably wouldn’t want the army to hire a soldier that couldn’t do a single pushup) but when it’s only based on “well, they’re different than me so I’m going to treat them like shit” then that’s when it gets ugly.

That’s a great idea republishing early posts that got little exposure. When I started my own blog I had so few visitors I’d sometimes visit it myself just to keep it company. As it is, it seemed to take Google forever to acknowledge my blog’s existence. Having so many posts that have barely seen the light of day, think I’ll follow your example…
Kevin says
Yep I think the first six months or so I was lucky to get 20 visits in a day! 😉

I’m also promoting my earliest posts that got little exposure — I’m not republishing them, per se, just promoting them on Twitter. I personally think that some of them are quite good, although my boyfriend tells me my latest stuff is much more personal and “human” than my early stuff! Different tastes, I guess.

What you could do is write a new post that links back to the old and include a bit of its topic and meaning; that way you get the best of both worlds.

I have a web site where I give advise on penny stocks and stocks under five dollars. I have many years of experience with these type of stocks . If their is anyone that is interested in these type of stocks you can check out my web site by just clicking my name. I would like to comment about double digit inflation. I am very disturbed by the lack of progress on cutting the budget deficit. It will require large tax increases and budget cuts to bring the deficit under control. When nobody will buy the debt obligations of the united states than the buyer of last resort will emerge and who might be that buyer of last resort’ the government itself. in other words the massive money printing will have begun welcome weimar republic two thousand ?
