The Right Way of Using Social Media to Boost Up Sports Marketing

By Mich

Social media has been widely used these days not only to connect to family and friends, but also as a way to promote businesses and gain supporters. Almost everyone has a social media account and some even have several in different social media networks. It has become a powerful tool that many are seeing it to essential in increasing popularity or awareness. It has also become a very viable avenue for marketing brands and products. Thus, sports marketing will definitely benefit from this.

The marketing world has evolved over time and sports marketing should as well. Promoting brands and products nowadays has never been as easy with the rise of internet. No wonder mainstream advertisements are no longer the main choice for sports marketers.

Here are some of the ways you can take advantage of social media to boost up sports marketing.

Be Present in Multiple Social Media Platforms

Having social media presence in different platforms will certainly help sports marketers in a lot of ways. There are a variety of platforms available right now and most people use 3 or 5 of these. Being present in several sites will allow you to connect with more people. The more people you get connected to, the more chances of getting loyal fans to know your product and brand. The best thing with using social media is most of the popular platforms are free so you’ll save up some bucks while enjoying its perks.

Know when to wisely update your accounts

Another way to boost up sports marketing through social media is by updating your account regularly and wisely. Post pictures or share the latest news about your sports team or product. Prepare the words to type and make sure to include some hashtags. Being active with your account will give you the upper hand as most social media platforms feature accounts or pages that are very active and are updated regularly.

Be proactive in announcing your events through social media

Most people are not able to attend sporting events or engagements because they are not aware there is one. Social media is a good starting point to send invites to local fans for your events.  However, make sure that if you are trying to send an invite, especially though photos, it is best that you show something of legitimacy. Brands who are listed as sponsors may be included to add value and integrity of event.

Create a social media hub in home fields

One of the most interesting ideas, especially for teams, to promote their brand is by creating a social media hub or suite in their respective home field. This is a good idea because it attracts other social media users to come and post things about the team and its events online. This way, the marketing team will have extra hands in marketing the team and its brand.

The social media hub does not need to be fancy or complicated. You can simply put up some customized tents around the field or provide a spare room in the building. You just need to make sure there is fast and reliable wireless access. This is advantageous as you give social media reporters and bloggers a special spot apart from the professional press box.

The use of social media for marketing has no limits. Marketers and businesses are still scratching the surface when it comes to using social media as a marketing tool. Take advantage of it in promoting your business and you will surely go a long way as long as you do it right.
