Weekend Reading: The New Ipad Edition

By Kevin

Another weekend, and another week of strange weather where the temperature swung between -20°C and +12°C…

Apple has announced the new iPad, due to hit shelves soon! The new tablet looks like a monster, with blazing fast 3D performance, more pixels than your HDTV, and a nice, fat battery that will still power the 4G edition for 9 hours on a charge. The iPad2 will also drop $100 in price to $399 for the base version. With Apple offering such good value at a great price, it will be very tough for Android tablets to compete.

I’m an Android guy, and I love that Apple is turning up the heat, because when the big companies go at it, the customers win! Android tablets will only get better and better — they will have to, if they don’t want to be relegated to the bargain-bin basement.

What happened to the blogroll? Where am I??

Before you get mad at me, check out the “Recommended Links” section — you’re in there! 🙂 The blogroll was getting a bit unwieldy, and I feel bad about not accepting requests from fellow bloggers because the list is getting long, so I’ve decided to organize everything under one place and organize it by category. I’ve also placed the “Top Commentators” widget where the blogroll used to be, and these links are followed so top commentators get extra link love.

I’ll be honest I was expecting more from the update, I dunno what I was expecting but some these additions are things that probably should have been in the last iPad.

    Thanks for mentioning the carnival.

I was surprised the previous version didn’t allow creating a wifi hotspot…

Thanks for the mention Kevin, have a great weekend!

My wife and I still own BBs for our smartphones, but over time, will likely switch to Android. Just too many reasons not to. Then, we can buy all your apps as you build that empire 😉

    Take care,
    Mark

I will appreciate it a lot! It’s funny how a lot of mobile predictions don’t even mention RIM… but not great for Canada’s economy.

I’m an Apple user, but would love to see a comparison with the Android products. You are right, the consumer ultimately wins. Thanks for including me!

    Am I silly that I don’t even have an iPad 1? 🙂

    Thanks for the mention!

Young And Thrifty: You’re not alone. We just got an IPAD 1 this year. Even though we’re late to the game, the thing is still pretty awesome!

Kevin: Are you thinking about getting the IPAD 3 (or whatever they’re calling it)?

Can’t justify the expense at the moment, but perhaps later on. 😉

Interestingly Apple has not done away the iPad 2, but now offers the 16GB WiFi version for $399.00, meaning you can find the refurbs of that device for $349 or less in some instances.

Amazingly, they are reported to have sold 3 million units in the first 3 days.
