I recently posted about a move into our first home; well, right now I am without Internet and my PC is currently disconnected, so I haven’t been able to write and follow up as much as I would have liked. This is a very big move compared to all my past moves from apartment to apartment, as there is so much more that needs to be looked at: dealing with issues with the builder, taking the time to furniture shop, installing light fixtures and things like that (which can be more of a pain in the *%! than I would have expected).
I am having fun and I am enjoying the process so far; it really is a lot of fun, but it is also a lot of work! I am not too happy to have neglected the blog and my other priorities such as the GMAT and Mandarin. At least I am sure that I got enough exercise over the weekend, including a mattress walk of a few hundred feet!
I hope to have everything more or less settled by the end of the week (I know it’s not going to happen, but at least to have Internet and to have most of the move complete will be good); until then, why not read some of these great articles from some of my fellow bloggers?

Thanks for the mention! Exciting times moving into a new place. Good luck getting everything setup. Did you pick the paint or will you be painting over before everything is in?

Congratulations on the new place Kevin!

Thank you for mentioning me! I hope your move is as smooth as possible. It always seems to take longer than planned to settle into a new place, and now that you’re the owner of it you’ll be even more picky.

Thank you for including me. I was wondering what happened to you. Moving! I have mixed feelings about moving. I hate it because it is so much work and we always lose things. And I love it because it is a beginining of something new and exciting. Good Luck! 🙂

Thanks for including my post in your round up. Best of luck with the move. It can be stressful sometimes. Just allow yourself time to adjust to the change and you will be just fine.

I feel your pain! I can’t stand moving. We moved recently from a rental house to an apartment (all for the better) and it was such a hassle. Good luck with getting unpacked and settled!

Hey Kevin,
At least you got some of that primal exercise we talked about. Hauling a mattress engaging quite a few muscle groups.
My Own Advisor says
Sounds like a big move indeed! I wish you all the best in getting set-up in the new digs. I’m sure you’re going to enjoy your new place, it sounds very nice, small condo parking spot aside 🙂
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Easy to say, hard to do I know, but you know it’s true.
Thanks for the mention and hang in there with all the to-dos.
BeatingTheIndex says
This is all exciting stuff Kevin, enjoy it and the routine will settle back in no time 🙂

Thanks for the good wishes and for stopping by, everyone!
@Andrew I really felt it in the forearms — they were starting to burn up quite a bit after a few minutes of carrying the mattress without rest other than switching arms.
@My Own Advisor I agree about not sweating the small stuff. Overall it’s pretty good and we just have to be persistent about getting the builder to fix the problems. In the end if they are stubborn about the parking I’ll let it be since it’s not a problem if I back up into the space. I can live with it rather than spend money over what is not the end of the world. I will still annoy the hell out of them about it, though. 🙂
